Prof Msizi Mkhize is currently the Pro Vice-Chancellor: Student Services Division at UKZN. He is regarded as a transformative leader dedicated to community outreach and skill-building. Some of his former positions include: Dean of Teaching and Learning in the College of Law and Management Studies at UKZN, Academic Leader Teaching and Learning in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at UKZN; Accounting education lecturer at UKZN School of Education; Project manager of Transformation and Growth at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants; Departmental head of commercial subjects at Zwelibanzi High School; and Accounting and Mathematics teacher at Menzi High School, where he developed a turnaround strategy for the school. 

He holds PhD and MCom from UKZN, BCom Hons from UNISA, BCom from UNIZULU and Diploma in Education from Indumiso College of Education. He is a recipient of the 2018 UKZN Distinguished Teachers’ Award which was in acknowledgement of a sustained contribution to teaching and learning at the University. In 2019, he received a National Excellence in Teaching Commendation from the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and Higher Education Learning and Teaching Association of Southern Africa (HELTASA). He is also a “Play Your Part” Brand Ambassador for South Africa.
