Prof Msizi Mkhize is currently the Pro Vice-Chancellor: Student Services Division at UKZN. He is regarded as a transformative leader dedicated to community outreach and skill-building. Some of his former positions include: Dean of Teaching and Learning in the College of Law and Management Studies at UKZN, Academic Leader Teaching and Learning in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at UKZN; Accounting education lecturer at UKZN School of Education; Project manager of Transformation and Growth at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants; Departmental head of commercial subjects at Zwelibanzi High School; and Accounting and Mathematics teacher at Menzi High School, where he developed a turnaround strategy for the school. He holds PhD and MCom from UKZN, BCom Hons from UNISA, BCom from UNIZULU and Diploma in Education from Indumiso College of Education. He is a recipient of the 2018 UKZN Distinguished Teachers’ Award which was in acknowledgement of a sustained contribution to teaching and learning at the University. In 2019, he received a National Excellence in Teaching Commendation from the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and Higher Education Learning and Teaching Association of Southern Africa (HELTASA). He is also a “Play Your Part” Brand Ambassador for South Africa.

Therefore, the Student Services Division is seen as one that enhances student capabilities, provides safe and secured living and learning environment and plays a key role in the positive Student Experience. In light of this, co-curricular activities are essential to a holistic university experience and student development.
